Javier Rodrigo's story
Javier Rodrigo raises hogs and sells the younger pigs for their meat. He is a trained veterinaian and therefore also dedicates himself to taking care of his community's animals when the need arises. Javier Rodrigo is well aware of the negative impact of his hogs' manure on the environment, and was very enthusiastic about the opportunity to transform this problem into a productive solution. Indeed, the biodigester will allow Javier to transform his hogs' and poultry's manure into biogas and organic fertilizer. He will be able to displace the expensive LP gas and chemical fertilizers, while treating the manure, thereby avoiding the contamination of underground water sources, emission of greenhouse gases and he will eliminate the bad smells. By applying the organic fertilizer on his corn field, Javier will increase its yield in a sustainable way, without using any chemical fertilizer. As his productivity increases and his operating costs decrease, Javier will have more income available to invest in the expansion of his farm and his family's well-being. This loan represents 50% of the total cost of the biodigester, the remaining part is being covered by a government subsidy.
