Banco Mujer Mujeres En Acción Group's story
Banco Mujeres en Acción (Women in Action Bank) Fray Casiano, Puntarenas Banco Mujeres en Acción is made up of four members who have worked in previous years both with Fundación Mujer and with other groups in the Puntarenas zone. They have shown organization, solidarity, and teamwork, as well as maintaining savings and an established organization. The members of this group are neighbors in the community of Fray Casiano, in Puntarenas, and they have worked in this zone for 5 years. They have diverse and established activities, allowing them to have an important base to secure this loan. The members know clearly how to produce the generation of profits for each one of them. They have a sense of team work, joint guarantee, and savings. Their work and their effort are validated with the support of institutions like the Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social and Fundación Mujer, who has allowed them to have established activities (general store, retail shop, and an internet café), with equipment, venues, and furniture for their microenterprise. Xinia has a general store. This loan will allow her to invest in the purchase of merchandise, improving the service she offers in the zone. She is 43 and lives with a son, who helps her look after the business on three work days; this helps her obtain better income. They are empowered, tenacious, and very hard-working women. Teamwork has made them strong, as they maintain excellent organization and a good strategy to stay afloat for these five years. Their solidarity and resolve towards others makes them stand out in their community as women who know how to give good service to the Fray Casiano neighborhood. They have participated as leaders in their community, a place with high levels of poverty and social problems such as drugs and crime. These women try to support other younger women, such as Giannina and Stephanie, to seek to earn money to support their homes and their families in their work and efforts.
