Nyaung Pin Tan Village Group's story
This community based organisation (CBO) is located in Nyaung Pin Tan Village, Myanmar Ayeyarwaddy Delta region. It consists of 34 village customers, overseen by 5 CBO members. This loan will help some group members to purchase high quality feed (it costs $30 a week to buy feed for 100 ducks) that will help them increase their income due to having more duck's eggs. Other members will use the funds to purchase both ducks and ducklings. Most of the men from Nyaung Pin Tan Village are farmers and some households also plant seasonal vegetables and fruits. In addition to ducks, many Nyaung Pin Tan villagers raise pigs, chickens, and water buffalo. Pigs are mainly a source of savings, water buffalo are used to cultivate the land, while chickens are used in a similar way as ducks. Pictured above are CBO members from Nyaung Pin Tan Village, named U Tin, U Htin and Daw Khin. Included in the picture, (first from left) U Tin is 54 years old and married. He farms on his two-acres-crop farm and also looks after the livestock and ducks. He has a son who is a secondary student. Proximity's loan will help him to purchase high quality feeds that will make the ducks lay well-nourished eggs. The eggs will boost U Tin’s family's income.
