Hmaw Bi Village Group 2's story
This community is located in Hmaw Bi Village, Myanmar Ayeyarwaddy Delta region. In this community, 5 CBO (Community Based Organization) members oversee a group of 18 village customers. This loan will help some group members purchase ducks and the remaining group members will use the funds to purchase high-quality feed, costing $28 for 6 days feed for 100 ducks. This will boost the villagers' income as they will have more duck eggs. Hmaw Bi village has a population of over 1300 and many of them are farmers. Those with arable land cultivate rice paddy and plant seasonal vegetables and fruits such as bananas and coconuts. Besides duck raising and farming, the villagers also raise pigs for additional income. Some households have small grocery or dry food stores in their houses. Pictured above are the CBO members from Hmaw Bi Village Group 2, named Daw Mya, Daw San, Daw Soe, Daw Zin and U Chit. Daw Mya (sitting in the picture) is 39 years old and married with three children. Her husband farms on his friend's farm as a daily farmer but the couple plant summer crops by renting the farm in summer. Daw Mya is responsible for taking care of the livestock, ducks and pigs. Proximity's loan will help the family to purchase 25 more ducks and high-quality feed for them. The good quality of feed will boost Daw Mya's family income as they will get more duck eggs.
