Prapapon's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to jumpstart her weaving operations by investing in raw materials ahead of the busy spring and summer hammock sales period.

Prapapon's story

This past year was a difficult one for the hill tribe communities in Phrae Province. The price of corn has dropped to the point that subsistence farming is barely possible. Weaving became an even stronger beacon of hope for families. The waiting list for work grew faster than we could build new sales channels, and dozens of people are hoping to join the program. Trained weavers like Prapapon feel lucky to have this job security and the support from Kiva. This is Prapapon's second Kiva loan through the field partner program. As a member of the inaugural class of Kiva weavers, she went through a financial literacy program, improved her budgeting skills and opened her first bank account! Prapapon is an especially lucky weaver - she has three sisters-in-law and they all work together. They pool their resources, spread the work around and have a good time while they work! Each of them earns her own share of the profits and feels proud of her independence! Prapapon had a baby since receiving her first Kiva loan and is glad she has a flexible job that saves her from having to work out in the fields! This loan will kelp Prapapon jumpstart her weaving operations by investing in raw materials ahead of the busy spring and summer hammock sales period.
