Timotea's story

Doña Timotea is a 50 year old single mother with only one year of primary education as her parents were of very limited means which made it difficult to continue supporting her so she had to leave school. She is the mother of four children who work and her two grandchildren live at her home helping with household chores and in the fields with her other children. Timotea has worked in agriculture since she was very little. She has more than 35 years of experience in the cultivation of coffee which she learned from her father. Since there was no opportunity for her to receive an education she applied herself her learning this type of work as she thought that this category would become her source of income in the future, which has been the case in actuality. The planting and cultivation of coffee, corn, and beans are the source of income for her family and home with which they have been able to come out ahead and overcome obstacles over a long period of time. Her coffee plantation is approximately 500 meters from her home which she commutes walking with only her children and two grandchildren. This distance isn't difficult when the results are positive but these come from hard-work to ensure the coffee plants are not without the necessary maintenance and protection. For this reason she is requesting financing towards the purchase of 10 QQ of formula 18-46-0, 8 pots of leaf fertilizer, 4 bags of KCL, 6 bags of formula 12-24-12, 100 bags of organic compost and to keep her plantation more private 4 rolls of barbed wire with which she can prevent unwanted access to the property by cows, donkeys, etc. for which she awaits support.
