Djantoyerela Group's story
The group DJANTOYERELA is composed of married women, who average 40 years of age and four children each, all living in traditional families in the village of Warassala, Préfecture de Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women know one another through ties of kinship, community, and friendship. They have business involving charcoal and general goods. The women of the group DJANTOYERELA are on their 27th solidarity loan. With the goal of satisfy the enormous demand from their customers, the women turned to the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. This client, NAH, the first person sitting from the left, is illiterate. She is currently a vendor of charcoal. She intends to purchase sacks of charcoal locally. Her sales are made retail to a mixed customer base paying with cash in Bamako. She plans on making a monthly profit of 80,000 francs CFA that will be reinvested in her business.
