Lungkhat Group's story
Hatneineng, 24 years old, is the featured member of ‘Lungkhat’ group. She is pictured with her hand raised. She is a married woman with a baby daughter who is a year old. She resides in the northeastern part of India that has a moderate climate. Most people residing in that area are engaged in daily wage earning. Although she had a baby girl, she had to do something in order to meet her family's expenses. She planned to open a tea stall, which she thought could help her manage her household expenses. She rented a place at Tuibuong district Head Quarter, aspiring to earn more income for her family's maintenance. Her husband supports and helps her in running the tea stall. To keep her business in full swing, she used to go and buy the necessary items twice a week from the main market in town. She also mentioned that there was no other tea stall like hers in that area so she wanted to expand her tea stall, which will eventually help her in increasing her income and meet her family expenses. The income that she gets was not enough for her family's expenses so she was unable to buy the necessary items for the tea stall. With the help of her Kiva loan, she plans on purchasing more items for the tea stall, which would help her increase her income. Most of the villagers come to her tea stall as it is the only tea stall available in her village. She thanks WSDS for helping her by providing loans at a low interest and making her life much better than it was before.
