Beatrice is in her late 30s and is a single mother of one child, who is in school. She has been taking care of her family through her general store business, selling a variety of items such as cooking oil, soap, rice, baking flour, and maize flour. Beatrice has been in this business since 2008, working from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every working day. With a good season, she is able to make a good profit. As a single parent, she has to work hard to make sure her child has a good life. She has decided to find financial support to improve her business and raise her monthly income. Beatrice has approached Tujijenge, a Kiva partner, to request a loan. This is her second loan and she has paid back successfully her previous loan. She used the first loan to restock her shop. Her business still needs some more items to satisfy all customers. She will invest her new credit request to restock her shop with rice, cooking oil, soap, baking flour, and maize flour. Her desire is to manage two shops so that her income grows. Beatrice will share this loan with her loan group,Temboni, consisting of three women who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
