A loan helped to buy shoes.

Blanca María's story

Portoviejo is the capital of the province of Manabí, 35 km from the city of Manta. It is just a few minutes from the beach of Crucita, where one can have contact with nature and enjoy the sun and the peaceful waves. It has a dry climate. This is where Ligia lives. She is 70 years old, single and has five grown children. She has lived with one daughter for 11 years and doesn't have her own house. Ligia is a housewife who in order to obtain her own resources and help with the household expenses sells shoes by catalog (sandals, athletic shoes, dress shoes, etc.). She works every day of the week for eight hours a day. She sells her products on credit and collects every week. She has been doing this activity for 8 years and it is going very well for her. She is asking for the loan to buy shoes that are on sale and thus make more profits with the sales. She has been a member for 15 years and she likes it because of the unity and the sincerity the institution has with the members.
