Jamila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to develop her business by buying necessary raw materials to satisfy her customers' needs with special markouk (flatbread) tastes.

Jamila's story

Jamila is a 58-year-old married mother of three children and the sole breadwinner of her family. Sixteen years ago she started baking markouk, a type of flatbread baked on a domed or convex metal griddle, known as "saj." Markouk is served with several tasty toppings as the customers may choose, such as thyme, cheese, and many others. This business covers the needs and expenses of her family. Jamila is a hard worker who has professional skills in her domain, and is known throughout her region for her special tasty markouk. Jamila is acquiring a loan from Kiva's field partner Al Majmoua to develop her business by buying necessary raw materials to satisfy her customers' needs with special markouk tastes. Jamila hopes to expand her business in the future to increase her income and improve her family's living conditions.
