Ma Yae Pyar Mout Village Group's story

The Ma Yae Pyar Mout Village is located in Myanmar's Ayeyarwaddy Delta region. In this community, four CBO (Community Based Organization) members oversee a group of 30 village customers (14 males, 16 female). This loan will help the group members purchase ducklings and high quality feed for ducks (costing $27, five days feed for 100 ducks).

Ma Yae Pyar Mout Village has 176 households and over 900 villagers. Most of the men in the village are farmers and some work as day laborers in town or other villages. Many households plant different kinds of flowers and seasonal foods. For additional income, some have additional livestock such as pigs and chickens.

Pictured above are four CBO members from Ma Yae Pyar Mout, named U Than, U San, , U Kan and Daw Yin. U Aye, a community leader, is not taking a loan but helping with coordination. U Than (first from the left) is 54 years old and married. He is a farmer and has seven acres of land. U Than takes care of his livestock, while his wife sells his farm's flowers. The couple has eight children, five daughters and three sons. Like his fellow villagers, U Than will purchase ducklings and high quality feed with Proximity's loan.
