Dulce Corazon De Maria Group's story

Rosalinda is a determined 52-year-old woman who is the eldest of a large family of fourteen siblings. Her life has been one of hard work but she always wanted to study and learn. She recently completed her primary school education with the goal of creating a new career. Rosalinda is married with five children, one of whom is adopted. She is providing the child with the opportunity to live and develop. This is a small example of what a wonderful person she is. Rosalinda is a very enterprising woman who has a business selling snacks and food at special events. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Dulce Corazon de Maria” (Mary’s Sweet Heart). With her loans, she has been able to establish and build her beauty salon. The new loan that she is requesting will be used to buy beauty products and furniture including special salon chairs, hair dye and other supplies. She has continued to meet the demands of her clients by being at the forefront of her business. This would not have been possible without the information and motivation provided by a Friendship Bridge Loan Officer at the monthly meetings of the Trust Bank. Topics include accounting, budgeting, pricing, marketing, customer service and indebtedness. Other subjects discussed are hygiene, health, nutrition and the use of medicinal plants. The ladies gain knowledge as well as self-esteem and empower themselves. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of loans and education “Microcredit Plus” and it is truly effective. Rosalinda and the nine Trust Bank members are anxious to begin their new loan cycle in order to work toward achieving their goals and dreams. They are hopeful that KIVA investors will have enough confidence in them to offer the additional loan capital they need. The members of the “Dulce Corazon de Maria” Trust Bank are extremely grateful to the KIVA investors for their on-going support! We look forward to providing a follow-up report in the very near future.
