Vision Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase fabric, thread, elastic, zippers, buttons and other supplies to make more traditional skirts.

Vision Group's story

The Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Vision”, located in the rural community of San Francisco el Alto in Western Guatemala, is so excited to report that they finished paying off the second loan funded by KIVA investors, to whom they send their gratitude for supporting their small business so they can have an income to support their families. Because of their confidence, once again the trust bank Vision is applying for a third loan. They hope that Kiva investors can support them one more time, because these ladies are determined to change their lives and create a better future for themselves and their families. Alicia is a member of the Trust Bank. She is 30 years old, and is married with two children who are attending primary school. Alicia was only able to attend primary school. but because she is empowering herself through the Friendship Bridge “Microcredit Plus” Program that combines small loans and education, she is determined to move forward and succeed. Alicia works from home in order to take care of her children. She is able to generate income for her small family. Alicia makes traditional skirts called “cortes” that she later sells in the region’s big textile market. Her business enjoys increased sales during the busy season of the year, especially for special events, and so she has additional employees to help out. But most of the year, she works alone. Alicia is asking for a loan to invest in the purchase of fabric, thread, elastic, zippers, buttons and other supplies to make more garments. She wants to increase her income and profits, with the goal of seeing her children complete their education. Alicia is very aware that education is key to a successful and prosperous life. KIVA investors are much-appreciated partners for these women. Thank you for your support and confidence in the women of the “Vision” Trust Bank!
