Wunzooya Bimbilla - Masaka Group's story

Rabi is a 65-year-old hardworking woman from Bimbilla in the Northern region of Ghana. She is married and has seven children. Rabi is the individual pictured carrying paddy rice among the members who are standing. Rabi is a member of a parboiled rice processing group that has been in business for the past seven years. The name of the group is 'Wunzooya Bimbilla - Masaka'. Rabi earns a good profit from the business because the group has been trained by Grameen Ghana on how to process high quality parboiled rice for the local markets around Bimbilla and Tamale. Rabi and ‘Wunzooya Bimbilla - Masaka’ Group have asked for a loan of 13,000 GHS. Rabi’s share of the loan is 600 GHS, which would be used to buy paddy rice from rice farmers for processing. Rabi aspires to produce in large quantities in the future and earn more income, as well as repay this loan and support her family with good health care and education. Rabi thanks Kiva lenders for their support.
