Kisa Self Help Group's story

Mary, age 60, pictured raising her hand, is a member of the Kisa Self Help Group. Mary joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa in 2013. She and her husband are blessed with seven children. After undergoing Hand in Hand Eastern Africa’s training on enterprise development and financial management, Mary diversified to poultry farming. She is requesting a loan from Kiva in order to buy more chickens for her poultry project. This will allow her to increase her income from the sale of meat and eggs to her customers. She hopes that this extra income will enable her to better cater to her family’s needs, providing essentials such as food, shelter and school fees for her children. She is grateful to her Kiva lenders and promises to repay her loan promptly.
