Tha Meik Htaw Kone Tan Group 2's story
Located in Tha Meik Htaw Kone Tan Village in Myanmar's Ayeyarwaddy Delta region, the community consists of 15 village customers and includes 5 CBO (Community Based Organization) committee members leading the loans in this certain area. This loan will help the villagers from Tha Meik Htaw Kone Tan Village Group 2 purchase ducks as well as good-quality feeds (a packet costs $30 and provides 6 days feed for 100 ducks). More eggs will enable them to increase their income. Most of the villagers are farmers and farm twice in a year, in both the winter and the rainy season. Some villagers, as well, plant seasonal foods such as carrots, cucumbers and roselle, which they sell at the town market in the morning. They also raise hens and pigs as livestock. The picture above shows the CBO committee members from this group, namely U Taw, U Aung, Daw Hte, U Than and U Sant. Included in the picture is U Taw (first from right). He is 22 years old and is a student. He is now in his second year in Math, which he has taken via distance education. At other times, he works in the family business, with its 11 acres of crop farms, as well as takes care of 101 ducks and pigs. He lives together with 6 members of his family, the parents and his sister's family. With the loan, he will buy more ducks as well as good feeds for them.
