Paquita's story

Paquita A. A. is a member of the "Siempre Unidas" ("Always United") communal bank. She lives in the region and province of San Martín, in the district of Tarapoto. She sells fruit from the region. She has her stand in the central market of the city, where customers who visit the market come to buy her produce. With this loan of 3000 soles ($975), which she will pay back in 6 months, she will buy fruit like cocouts, papayas, passion fruit, mangos, shicacashicas, and other fruit from her region. She will also use the loan to invest in clothes, that her customers have already ordered. She wants to take advantage of the end of the year festivities and attend to the needs of her customers. Paquita is 43 years old and has four children, who are dependent on her because they are studying. She is grateful for the support from Field Partner Manuela Ramos for allowing her business and businesses of other working women to grow.
