Yehowa A Dzo Wo Group's story
These women are part of Yehowa A Dzo Wo (God bless all) Group and have an average age of 40 years and three children at home. They all live in traditional extended families in Chorkor, Ghana. These women are neighbors who work by buying and selling porridge, vegetables, grocery, maize groundnut, kenkey (cooked corn dough) and fish. After successfully repaying their previous loans, these women of the Yehowa A Dzo Wo Group are on their fourth loan. Esther is the woman standing in the middle of the photo. She intends to use this loan to buy more vegetables to sell to customers. She buys her supplies locally at the main market, and makes her sales to diverse clients, both women and men, in cash and often on credit. She hopes to make a very good monthly profit, which she will use for school fees. The rest will be reinvested in her business. She is married and has four children who are attending school.
