A loan helped to build a latrine for her household.

Chhean's story

Chhean, 28, lives in Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. She is a lovely mother of two children, who are currently in school. To make a living, she has been in the farming business, growing rice and selling her agricultural products to local dealers and customers on the market. Besides this, she also raises pigs for sale. On average, she generates an earning of 7.00 USD per day. Chhean wants to improve the general living conditions of the entire family by having a latrine to use, because there is no latrine in her house now. Therefore, she is borrowing a loan from Kiva to build a latrine. By doing this, she can help her family members gain access to sanitation, promote their health, and help to lessen environmental deterioration. She is thankful for the loan granted through HKL with a much lower interest rate than other general loan products.
