Balcon 3 Group's story
Juana, 23, is a single woman who has no children. She has a business selling used clothing. She is patient, a good listener, supportive, enterprising, responsible, and hardworking. She is developing her business in the El Torno community, which is a rural area located 45 minutes from the city by car. This area is known for its agricultural commerce, because it is where the farmers meet up with the wholesalers and distributors from the city. The climate here is hot, tropical, and humid, with a temperature that varies during the day between 21 and 35 degrees centigrade over the year. Juana has a dark complexion, is short, and has long black hair tied back. Her native tongue is Guaraní, and she speaks Spanish so that she can integrate into the general culture and conduct business. She shares her life with her parents, who work in commerce. They live in a rented house built of bricks that has potable water, electricity, and sewer service. Her desire to succeed has led her to lead a communal bank with people who have a variety of businesses, such as: technical equipment services, furniture sales, bed sheet sales, the production of purses, the sale of empanadas, the production of traditional skirts, transportation services, and a store selling videos. They are requesting a loan to expand their businesses. Juana has a business selling used clothing. She sells from place to place in the various fairs and markets in the area. "Used clothing has become another option for consumers. Because of the cost and the variety available, it's become a booming business for some entrepreneurs," she comments. Juana's dream is to have her own clothing store so that she can stop selling in the markets. She wants to increase her stock of used clothing so that she can have a greater variety to offer to her customers. This is the first loan with the institution in a year that she has taken for this business. Juana is requesting this loan to increase her stock of used clothing to offer for sale to her customers.
