Kathery Fernanda's story
San Miguel de los Bancos is a settlement with a warm, humid climate. The settlement has various tourist attractions, and its people are friendly, hardworking, and happy. The people of the settlement like to enjoy their celebrations by organizing popular concerts and dances. Kathery lives and has her business in this settlement. She is a determined young woman who is 19 years old. She is married and does not have any children. Her husband works as a day laborer in a farm in the area. She comes from a humble family of limited resources, which kept her from finishing school. She had to go to work to help her mother with the household expenses and to pay for her studies. She makes a living by raising pigs. She learned this business from her mother. She works an average of 10 hours a day between this business and her job at a store in the settlement. She will invest this loan in the purchase of dairy cows. With this investment, her income will improve. Kathery is grateful to Fundación Alternativa and Kiva for the support and opportunity to improve her quality of life.
