Jose Antonio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plant cacao and diversify his crop so that he can be a great small businessman.

Jose Antonio's story

Jose lives the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas in the coastal region with a pleasant climate. It's a productive region known for cattle, seasonal fruits, and most of all plantains grown for export. Jose is 54 years old and lives with his wife, one daughter and his young grandson who brings him happiness every day. He has a small farm in the area where he produces plantains. Every day, he and his wife go out to maintain the crops, replant and fertilize. Thanks to this business he has been able to get where he is; while he doesn't have much he lives very happily with his family.

Jose is a hardworking and responsible man, and says he joined Fundacion Alternativa because the loans that they give out are according to what people really need. He went to a bank and they wanted to over-extend his credit - they gave him a lot of money, but he only wanted what he needed. Now with this small loan he will be able to plant two hectares of cacao so that he can diversify the products that he offers. Jose is very grateful that the institution listens and understands the small business, with which he will be able to improve his production.
