A loan helped to buy corn seeds and fertilizer for the cornfield.

Nua Ngam 5 Group's story

For four years, Mrs. Lom, 29, has been a single mom of two girls who are now 10 and 12 years old. After the divorce, she has started her new life and provided for her children independently. They live together in a small low-roofed house with very limited access to necessary facilities. Mrs. Lom has worked very hard to struggle with the life of deprivation, and in spite of the hardship, she is very optimistic and proud of her daughters because they could attend school fully with good results. Without being trained for work, and because of dropping out of school early, Mrs. Lom can only work at agricultural production. It is unstable and generates low income, because of the harsh condition of nature, and the lack of access to modern techniques in farming. However, with the experience in farming that she has accumulated since she was very little, and through the training and counselling she has gotten from the Anh Chi Em program, she's actually doing great at cultivating rice, corn, cassava, and raising pigs and chickens. This is the fifth time she has taken out a loan from the program, and she will use it to buy corn seeds and fertilizer for the cornfield. She is thankful for the support of the program, which is timely and helpful to her. She dreams her children will escape from poverty and have an abundant life.
