but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy roses for her flower business.

San Jose Group's story

Our members belong to the SAN JOSE community bank in Cusco. Sra. Cirila, 68, is one member of the group. She is a widow and has 5 children. She sells flowers for a living and says that she sells all kinds of flowers: lilies, daisies, etc. She has operated the business for many years and says that it is a success because of the effort that she has put in, day-in and day-out, to make it a success. She hopes to carry on the business because it is her means of helping her family move ahead. Sra. Cirila is applying for a loan that she will use, among other things, to buy roses. People older than 65-years old are excluded from formal avenues of borrowing here so Kiva lenders offer a rare alternative for funding businesses owned by older people. Sra. Cirila is grateful for your help and committed to repaying your loans in the agreed-upon time. This loan is part of a line of credit granted to Credi Yapa by Asociación Arariwa. The line of credit is offered to borrowers with good credit records, a criteria that this group meets.
