Group Maa Samalei Shg is composed of eleven married women. They are on average 33 years old with three children. They live in nuclear families, in a rural area of Boudh district of Odisha, India. They met through neighborly, friendship and trade relations. To increase their financial capacity and develop their business, they joined micro-finance institution Peoples Forum. This is their first loan and they committed to repay on time. This group trades vegetables, fruits, fashion items and cosmetics. With her loan, Shanti is planning on purchasing cosmetics and fashion items from the wholesalers in Boudh. She sells from door-to-door to mixed-gender clients. She takes cash and offers payment facilities. She is forecasting making good monthly profit which will be reinvested in the business once the loan is repaid.
