Angela's story

Angela is 32 years old. She describes herself as confident and self-driven. She is a mother of two girls ages 7 and 10. Angela has been running her business of sending and receiving money with Zoona for five years. Angela has been able to successfully grow her business through the help from Kiva lenders. She has received and paid back 3 large loans, which helped her open more outlets and employ more young people from her community. Having access to the Kiva loans has also given Angela an adequate float of working capital in order to service her customers efficiently. Currently, Angela operates seven mobile money transfer outlets and employs 17 young women in Solwezi, Zambia. She is passionate about empowering young women to keep them from vices like prostitution, which is rife in the mining town of Solwezi. Now that Angela has successfully paid back her three previous loans, she is requesting a new loan to continue growing her mobile money business. With this loan, she will be able to serve more customers in a community that needs financial services. Her dream is to keep expanding her business and employ more young women so that she can give them a chance to improve their lives, too. Angela would like to let her Kiva lenders know how much her life has changed. She is empowered and is able to take care of her children and support her parents. She attributes her success to Zoona, Kiva, and a lot of hard work.
