A loan helped To buy bulk goods.
Barikisu A. is 32 years old, married, with three children. Barikisu lives with her family in a town called Goaso. Goaso is a farming community in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. The inhabitants produce food crops like maize, yam, millet, beans, etc. Her first two children are currently in elementary school while the youngest has not started school yet. For nine years, Barikisu has been selling products like beans, soya beans, groundnut, rice, vegetable oil and other food items in the neighborhood market. Barikisu buys her goods from farmers in her town and surrounding villages. She says that food vendors buy in large quantities from her. Therefore, she wants a loan to buy bulk goods and meet the demands of her customers. She hopes the loan will help her save money to support her children's education. Barikisu is a member of the community group called “Do Good” Trust Bank group. The group members guarantee for one another as collateral to access the loan and provide support and assistance to one another in repaying the loan.
