María only has one brother, her father and mother died when she was 7 years old, she does not remember them. Since then she live with a lady that took care of them. She worked doing housework for the lady. At 10 she began thinking what to do, at 12 she began working doing corn tortillas, she got one quetzal per day. When she was 14 the Chajulense Association of Women United for Life offered a training program for weaving, this let her work for a Textile Project and she began to get small benefits. When she left the project she got her compensation, she invested it in her general store. She has devoted her life in supporting his brother and took the responsibility for her nephew education, his nephew obtained this year his title of Teacher of Primary Education. María has have 7 years receiving loans from the Association, most of them have been invested in her general store, for stock up it, buying a refrigerator, to make up for a steal she suffered, to buy a computer for her nieces that studied school teaching, and for supporting the education of her nephew. This year she will use her credit to stock up her store. María is the leader of the Tejedoras Group 2, the group is integrated by 6 women, and they are from Ethnicity Ixil Maya.
