Al- Hanan 5 Group's story

This borrower group is called Al- Hanan 5. It consists of four women from Hodeidah, Yemen. They applied for a loan of 240,000 YER from Al-Amal Microfinance Bank. One woman in this group is named Alia. She is 44 years old, married, and has three children. She lives with her family in their own house in a poor area. Alia has been selling perfumes and incense door-to-door for more than seven years. She works very hard in order to provide her family with necessities, but her income and capital are not enough to do that, and she does not have enough inventory to meet demand. Day by day, Alia's capital decreases more and more. For this reason, she applied for financial support and took out a loan of 60,000 YER in order to enlarge her business by purchasing more perfumes and incense for resale. Alia hopes to eventually open a small store for all kinds of perfumes and incense.
