Kani-Gogouna 2 Group's story

The members of the Kani-Gogouna 2 group are married women. On average, they are 29 years old, have three children, and live in polygamous families in Bandiagara, which is in the 5th administrative region of Mali. They work with the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, in order to see their activities through the end of the rainy season. This is their second loan with the institution. Their primary crop is onions with Madame Fatou, the woman standing in the middle of the photo. With her loan, she would like to buy seeds and fertilizer. The crops are sold after the harvest in the villages of Wadouba and Bandiagara. Their clients are both men and women. She would like to earn 14,000 FCFA by the end of the season. These earnings will allow her to help her husband with the family expenses, food, and their children's education and healthcare. She will reinvest the rest in her business.
