Micaela's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy sand, iron, cement, quarried stone, a toilet, and to pay for labor to construct a sewer and install a toilet. Her latrine is in bad shape, and she needs to give her family better hygiene and safety.

Micaela's story

Micaela, age 62, is a very cheerful, active, and hard-working person. She went to elementary school with great sacrifice. Then, she learned tailoring in order to guarantee sustenance for her family. Her four children are adults, and they have their own families. She knew how to give them a good education. Micaela lives in her own house with a daughter and a small grandson. She has a lot of experience in tailoring, and she attracts more customers every day. She has been practicing this business activity for many years. She started making simple dresses, blouses, and skirts. Now that she has extended her knowledge, she makes dresses for weddings, 15 year old’s celebrations, and children’s clothes. She makes all types of dresses and clothes according to her customers’ preferences. She did not get a higher education. However, this work was enough for her to get her family ahead and to improve her house. She still keeps her house very pretty, and she does not get behind in making improvements that every house needs. When a house is built you need to give it maintenance, paint it, and put up grills, among other repairs that are usually necessary with the passage of time. When there is the needed money, these repairs are made in the future. She is hugely grateful to Kiva for the previous loan, which was used to make a room for her daughter. She now has more space and is more comfortable. Continuing with the home improvements, she is requesting this loan from Kiva to buy sand, iron, cement, quarried stone, a toilet, and to pay for labor. These will be used to construct a sewer and install a toilet in her house. At her age it is difficult to go out to the patio to relieve herself. This is also a way of providing hygiene to her home. With the hope that God will continue giving her good health and work, she plans on installing tile in her house after repaying the loan that she is requesting. It is the only way that people at the middle level, like her, make their improvements and have better living conditions.
