Marina's story

Marina, is a 54-year-old widowed woman who lives in the small of village Orulu. She lives with her son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons. Marina does her best to make good living conditions for her family, but her attempt is insufficient, at a time when the family's only source of income is generated from a small agribusiness. Marina takes care of three cattle on family-owned agricultural land, cultivates it herself and sells the harvested products at the local market. In order to deal with the financial difficulties and increase the family's living conditions, she wants to make another source of income. Marina needs financial support to purchase a truck and get income from renting it with private orders. The business will be profitable as the agribusiness is quite well-developed in this region and people will rent it, especially in season. Marina has been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and Credo. The start-up loan program provides business start-up loans with soft conditions to informal businesses that do not have access to credit products. The loan will greatly assist Marina as she will be able to improve her economic situation and give her family a better style of life.
