San Lorenzo (Portoviejo) Group's story

The San Lorenzo credit group meets every two weeks in the Mapasingue area of the Colon parrish in the city of Portoviejo. These women work in various sectors such as agriculture and trade. They decided to get together in order to be able to access the benefits that the institution offers, and with their loans to improve their businesses. One of the group members is Beatriz. She is 54 years old and is married. From her marriage she has three adult children, one of whom lives with them. Her husband is retired. She has been a fashion designer for many years. She learned to design and sew at a local academy. Beatriz is a very hardworking woman who likes to take advantage of opportunities to get her family ahead. She put in a small seamstress workshop in her home, where she works to sew every type of clothing. She sews for individuals who come to her house because they know of the quality of her work, the seriousness with which she works, and her punctuality in delivering the orders. She has been in this profession for more than 40 years, and it is how she earns something for the good of her family. This loan is to buy thread, fabric, zippers, and other sewing supplies that she needs in order to sew her outfits. This is her second loan cycle in the credit group, and she likes it because the loans are helping her a lot. Her dream is to get ahead.
