A loan helped to buy clothing in bulk.

Valientes Group's story

The communal bank “Valientes” will start its fifth loan cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Santiago II. It is formed by eight members and it is managed by a board of directors in which Lidia is the President. The businesses that the members of the communal bank have are diverse, and among them are the sale of clothes, food, potatoes and freeze-dried potatoes, beverages, party favors, traditional Andean skirts, furniture and blankets. The loan they are requesting will benefit the micro-entrepreneurs in which Lidia is a member. She says that she has been part of Pro Mujer for the last four years, and she entered by a friend’s request who is a client of the institution. Nowadays, she has a clothing business, and says that she started it several years ago when she got married. She wanted a business of her own and knew the dynamics of the trade since she supported her mother from an early age. The loan she is now requesting is to increase her capital (buy clothing in bulk) that will be acquired from the wholesalers of the city La Paz to then be sold at her stand. This type of work allows her to generate incomes to support her family financially, since she is married and has three children. When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the way the institution works.
