Adelfa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabric wholesale and an over-lock sewing machine to fill her orders for the end of the year.

Adelfa's story

Adelfa is a 56 year old single woman who has an 18 year old son. Her business is sewing sheets. She is independent, responsible, consistent, a good mother and hard-working. She does her business in the busy neighborhood of “Plan 3000” which has the biggest population in the city. It is where the victims of the flash flood of the Piraí River which took the homes of hundreds of people in 1983 where settled. It has a hot climate, tropical and humid. The average temperature is 30 degrees Celsius all year long.

Adelfa is dark-skinned, short and has long black hair. Her native language is Quechua (which she no longer uses) and she speaks Spanish for her business. She shares her life with her son who completed school and wants to continue to study nursing or something similar. She lives in her own house which has running water and electricity.

Her business is making bed clothing such as sheets, quilts, bed covers, pillow cases etc. And since it is summer she is only making sheets, single, double, twin, queen. She also makes children's sizes. “Clients bring new ideas and make an order. I take care of finding the material, make the sheets and sell them wholesale. My business is profitable. The offers they propose are varied as they like my work”

Her dream is to have a larger workshop and she wants to expand her business by buying fabric wholesale and an over-lock sewing machine. This is her first loan from the institution in the 4 years she has been in this business. For these reasons Adelfa is requesting a loan to buy wholesale fabric and an over-lock sewing machine to fill her orders for the end of the year.
