Annapurna Shg Group's story
Pratima is a 51-year-old widow who lives in a small village in the Koraput district of Odisha state, India. She married a farmer and from this relationship, has three children. Her children are all adults and one still lives with her. Pratima has a store in her home and sells all types of grocery and general store products like rice, sugar, oils, detergents, fruits and vegetables and other items. She works everyday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and sometimes even later. In her store, her customers can find everything necessary and that is the reason why each day she has more customers. Pratima has worked 14 years in the business, which has supported the household even while her husband was alive and she does not earn much on the farm. Pratima's portion of this loan will be used to buy groceries to stock the store. She has been in the Shg for two years and likes it because her business improves with each training and support provided by the Peoples Forum. Her goal is to continue growing her business day after day.
