Biakoye Group's story

These members are part of the group called Biakoye and they are on their ninth loan cycle with ID-Ghana. The businesses run by the members include clothing, fry yam and fish and electrical accessories. The loan that they will receive will benefit micro businesses like Mercy's. This is Mercy's ninth year with ID-Ghana. She joined after a friend, who is a member of the institution, invited her.

Mercy currently has a business selling ready-made clothing. She began this business through a friend, who showed her how to acquire and sell this product. The loan that she has requested is to increase her working capital so that she can purchase more ready-made clothing to sell to customers. She will purchase the product from the wholesalers and later sell it at the market. This job allows her to generate income to support her family. She is 28 years old, single and still living with her parent. When asked what she likes about ID-Ghana, she responded that she likes the other members of the group because they are kind.
