Haruna's story

Haruna is 37 years old and lives in the town of Luwero in the Luwero region of Uganda. He is married and has 4 children with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 7 years, Haruna has been working hard to manage his poultry business, rearing poultry birds. To help expand his business, Haruna has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more chicks, and will help Haruna to generate greater profits. Haruna hopes that in the future he will be able to have a large poultry farm. Haruna is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Haruna who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
