A loan helped to purchase farm tools.

Lucy's story

Lucy is a smallholder farmer based in Kipsebwo village in Nandi Hills, Kenya. She stays with her husband Nicholas and 5 children on a high altitude, 0.4 acre, farmland that is fertile for agriculture. She grows maize, tea, and keeps dairy animals and poultry. She started farming 4 years after getting married 18 years ago. It was a means of helping her husband look after the family. Besides farming, she started planting trees to give the farm an aesthetic appearance. Ever since, she has become a hardened farmer. Lucy is seeking a loan to purchase farm implements. She is going to use the money to purchase modern farm equipment that is in good working condition, efficient and improved in design and usability. She has opted out of using old tools that are worn out and hectic to use. She believes she is going to realize a better harvest as a result of using better tools. She will use the additional income to provide her family with a better life.
