A loan helped to buy clothing at wholesale and with the benefits pay food expenses of her baby.

Fatima Group's story

Telma is 35 years old, single, with an 18 year old son and an 8 month old baby. Her business is selling clothing. She is dynamic, enterprising, reliable, responsible, and hard-working. She is a street vendor in the southern part of the city. This geographic area is known for its informal businesses where various vendors gather, for its tropical warm climate with an average temperature of 30 degrees centigrade all year round.

Telma has a dark complexion, long dark hair, her first language is Quechua which she speaks with her friends and family, and her second language Spanish which is what she uses for business. She is the first woman on the right holding on to the child. She shares her life with her son who completes school this year and her baby who is still in diapers. They live in a rented house with electricity and drinkable water. She needs to increase her family's income so she joined a bank with others who have businesses such as selling furniture, making leather wallets, selling quilts, making meat pies, making traditional clothing, making empanadas, and transportation services. The loan is so that they may continue in their businesses.

Telma's activity is selling clothing. She buys the clothing at wholesale to sell as a vendor in the markets near her home. Her second job is a cleaning service in a book store, essentially maintaining and preserving the book, as they are antique documents or new books, the books' paper naturally ages with time. However the dust, grease and insects eat the material, destroying parts of the collection over time. To maintain a clean environment in the library is the best way to conserve the books for a long time.

This is the third sequence of loans for the institution in 8 years that she is doing this work. Her dream is to have a clothing store in her home. She wants to make the wholesale clothing purchase to take advantage of the end of year season and generate greater income for her baby's expenses. For this reason Telma seeks a loan to buy clothing wholesale and with the earnings pay the good expenses of her baby.
