Mario Elias's story

San Miguel de los Bancos, a canton with a warm and humid climate, is full of friendly, hardworking people. Traditionally they hold celebrations for the community's anniversary. This canton's a popular tourist attraction because of its variety of wild flora and fauna. Mario, 27, lives and runs his business in this canton. He's a determined young man and the single father of a daughter, 4. He sees her only a few days a week, so he makes the most of spending time with her whenever he can. Mario lives and runs his business in the La Florida neighborhood. Between his business and his job in a local gas station, he works an average of 10 hours a day. He earns a living raising pigs. He learned this business from his family, and it has helped him a lot in providing a good future for his young daughter. He's going to invest the loan in repairing and expanding his pigpens. This loan will improve his quality of life and that of his family. Mario's grateful to Fundación Alternativa and Kiva for their support and the opportunities they offer.
