Zisung - Nyong-Guma Group's story
Memunatu is a 47-year-old woman from Nyong-Guma in the Northern region of Ghana. Memunatu is married and has six children. Memunatu is the individual pictured with both hands in the shea butter basin among members squatting. Memunatu is a member of a shea butter processing group that has been in business for the last year. The name of the group is ‘Zisung - Nyong-Guma’. Memunatu earns a good profit from the business as the group has been trained by Grameen Ghana on how to improve their shea butter processing business. As such, they can always produce premium quality for the local markets and non-local markets. Memunatu and ‘Zisung - Nyong-Guma’ have asked for a loan of GHS 15,500. Memunatu’s share of the loan will help her to buy GHS 500 of shea nuts for processing. Memunatu aspires to earn more income, as well as to repay this loan and support her family's health and children's educational needs. Memunatu thanks Kiva lenders for their support.
