A loan helped to build a latrine.

Soem's story

Soem, 57 years old, is a married woman who lives in Prey Veng Province in Cambodia. She has 2 dependent children and 6 married children. Soem is an active farmer on a small rice farm which is located near her house. By growing rice and selling the crop to local dealers, she can make an average income of $5.00 USD per day. So far, she has been involved in this career for 35 years. Soem wants to improve the general living conditions of the entire family by having a latrine, something which is currently missing in her house. Therefore, Soem is requesting a loan from KIVA to build a latrine. By doing this, she can help her family members gain access to sanitation, promote their health, and help to lessen environmental deterioration. Soem is thankful for the loan granted through Hattha Kaksekar Limited with a much lower interest rate than other general loan products.
