Calixta Elizabeth's story
Calixta is a 29 year old woman, a single mother supporting her three children that are still living with her. They live in a rented house in the city of Santo Domingo de los Colorados, a very warm region characterized by the Tsachila people who live in the area. Calixta is an exemplary mother. She has worked a lot to support her little ones, doing any respectable job to put food on the table. Presently she has a small eatery where she prepares breakfasts, lunch and snacks. It is located on a main road. At times she also sells clothing. She sees a way to get ahead so she works very hard. Calixta separated from her husband several years ago due to his irresponsibility. Calixta came to the institution on recommendations from the area. With the loan she receives she will be able to buy additional tables and chairs since she is expanding her establishment. She will also invest in a sign for the name of her business. She feels very grateful for the support that the institution has given her to grow as a small business owner.
