Malemnganbi Chanu's story

Malemnganbi is a 25-year-old humble person who always has a smiling face. She is pictured with her mother. She is the eldest among five and loved to take care of her younger siblings ever since childhood while her parents were away for work. All her siblings go to school. Her parents barely sustain the family with their inadequate income for paying the expenses of the household. There was never a time that I had peace of mind, said her mother. A blessing has showered upon our family this time, now that my eldest daughter is able to start working in a respectable profession. I am happy and hope that she will be able to support her younger siblings in the near future. She has been very supportive to her siblings and all of them were happy about her new job profile. Malemnganbi was selected as a flight attendant at an interview held in town. She had been very happy about the good news and shared it with her family and friends. In the midst of her good fortune, the one thing that could not assure her happiness was the large sum of money she had to pay for the refundable security deposit so that she could start her training as a cabin crew member in the aviation academy. Considering her family's financial condition, she was anxious about where she would get that amount of money. While she was in high tension and sharing about her financial insecurities, her friend, whose aunt is a member of Kiva, told her that through WSDS she could take an education loan. She shared the news with her mother and they were delighted about the news. There are always times when the family is going through ups and down due to the lack of finances. She will pay her security deposit with the loan she took from Kiva and join the training. She is very happy and thanks WSDS for providing the loan during her family's critical conditions. She will repay the loan with her salary when she starts earning. She wishes to continue supporting her family like she always did. She express her immense gratitude to all those generous lenders who are part of building her career and making it possible.
