Flor Kantutita Group's story

Maria is the founder and president of the communal bank “Flor Kantutita”. She is very responsible and hard-working. She lives in the city of El Alto, Bolivia with her husband, who works at a printing press that is quite far from their house. He is employed and like Maria, is a very hard worker. Maria makes meat sausages which she then sells in La Paz, which is approximately 50 kilometers from El Alto. Also, on Thursdays and Sundays, she sells her products in the El Alto market. This income allows her to support her two children. The family is united and dedicated. The money they make will allow them to rent a house, because they currently live in their in-laws’ house. Viviana is a member of the “Flor Kantutita” communal bank. She is very responsible and young. She lives with her husband, a young man who works on a bus and supports his household with what he can, as his salary is very low. Viviana helps maintain the household and her young son by selling belts and other accessories on the street in El Alto.
