Nkabom Group's story
Georgina is a group representative of Nkabom Group of Sabina in the Assin North district of the Central Region of Ghana. She is 54 years old and married with 5 children, ages 27, 23, 18, 13,and 9. Four of Georgina's children are currently attending school while one is on her own. Georgina is a cocoa farmer and also grows cassava, yams, and plantains for home consumption. Georgina produces palm oil, which she sells to individuals on market days. Georgina's main priority now is to secure a loan to purchase a clean cook stove. Georgina will use the by-product (virgin pellet) from her oil processing as fuel and will not incur any fuel costs when she starts to use the ELSA clean cook stove. She will be able to save some money for her household using the stove. A microloan will help Georgina and her group members to purchase the improved stove to protect their families from indoor air pollution. Georgina and her group members are thankful to their microlenders for their generous support in saving their families from health hazards.
