Danaya Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to buy strands of hair for women.
Danaya Group's story
The seven members of the Danaya group are married women who on average are 44 years old with three children. Most of them live in traditional families in Mancourani 1, a popular district of Sikasso, in the third administrative region of Mali. This is their 17th solidarity loan from the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution in order to satisfy their clientele. Mrs. Chata, who is standing first on the left in the photo of this group of women of the Danaya group, sells strands of hair. With her loan she plans to buy seven boxes of 12 units of different quality strands at the big market where she is much in demand due to the quality of her merchandise. She will sell them retail at the market where she has a luxury beauty stall, to a female clientele for cash and for credit. She hopes to make an average monthly profit of 48 000 francs CFA, part of which she will use to repay the loan and the interest and part of which she will save.
