A loan helped to obtain a water pump for irrigation.

Kenneth's story

Kenneth, 42, lives in Katete, Zambia. He is asking for a loan so that he can obtain a water pump to help him irrigate and expand his garden crops. Kenneth has been growing tomato, onion, cabbage and fresh greens on his farm to supply local markets in Katete. Using buckets, he has been drawing water from a nearby stream to irrigate his crops. This is an extremely labour intensive task, especially now that the dry season has begun. Rent to Own has worked with Kenneth and will deliver a water pump directly to his farm. Rent to Own also provides Kenneth with training on how to properly use and maintain the water pump, and will check in to provide support until he has paid off the loan. With the water pump, Kenneth is planning on growing potatoes throughout the dry season, supplying the busy markets in Zambia’s Eastern province.
